An Evening of Story with Moth Artist Donna Otter
September 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$15.00
Do you listen to the Moth podcast? Donna Is headed to the Moth MainStage in Santa Monica October 1, and would love to celebrate with you by holding a mini-Moth story slam in San Diego.
Donna will tell four of her five-minute stories on themes of: Wonders, Dedication, Schooled, and Beauty, take an intermission, and then host an hour of YOUR stories. Bring a 5 minute story, if you wish, on one of those themes, or simply a story you must tell, or have been telling for years. It must be true. It must be about you. And it must be told, not read. You might come with no story in mind, and then something you hear will very likely bring a story. Throw your name into the hat and we’ll do as many as we can in our time allotted. Of course, telling a story live without notes is not everyone’s idea of a good time. Some find the idea terrifying. (I used to!) So if that’s you, feel free to listen to your heart’s delight.
About Donna –. Longtime San Diegan, writer, and graduate of the Expressive Arts Institute, Donna worked as an registered expressive arts therapist before moving to Portland 6 years ago where she quickly became immersed in the active storytelling culture. She read from her teen diary for two Mortified www.getmortified.com shows and began telling stories at the Moth story slams two years ago. www.themoth.org She won a story slam, and then a grand slam, then was asked to perform at the 20th anniversary Moth Ball in NYC last June. October 1st she goes to Santa Monica to tell a story on the Moth Mainstage!
For a gal who greatly underestimated the impact and hardships of leaving her San Diego community, it is with great relief, pleasure, and gratitude that Donna returns to her beloveds for what promises to be a time of tenderness, meaning, humor, and in accordance with the Otter way, fun.
