Kathleen Kane-Murrell- The Secret Life of PAPER opens at the Swift Gallery
February 3 @ 5:00 pm - March 20 @ 8:00 pmFree
The Martha Pace Swift Gallery is proud to present: The Secret Life of Paper, Works on Canvas by Kathleen Kane-Murrell. The high-touch sculptural surfaces prominent in many of Kane-Murrell’s canvases imbue the work with a uniquely rhythmic quality, and make it engaging, vital and visceral. Surfaces vibrate with an energy that slips nimbly between chaos, and the constant self-organizing moment. Using oils, recycled papers and a deft handling of color, she manages to create works that reference nature without imitation. Her best work, even in unsculpted pieces, possesses a depth sometimes lacking in non-representational images. These are canvases the viewer can get inside.
The Swift Gallery is open 8-8, 7 days per week. Admission is free.
