Paintings by Dan Adams and Anna Zappoli Jenkins at the Swift Gallery
December 4, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - February 19, 2016 @ 8:00 pm
Dan Adams and Anna Zappoli Jenkins are hardly under-represented in the San Diego Arts Scene. In fact, it’s hard for a month to pass without both having paintings or entire shows around town Sometimes their works even appear in group shows. But this show represents a first in two substantial painting careers: an opportunity to see a significant body of work from both artists in one place.
With this show, I wanted not just to hang two separate bodies of work, but to explore the resonance between two artist who work, live and love in the same space over many years. Anna is known for working large and her painting style has ranged widely, from meticulously drafted figurative works in jewel tone hues and metallics to monochromatic abstracts. The current work is mostly black and white. Meanwhile Dan is known for paintings in oils, impressionistic and vibrantly in colorful… His “big” paintings in this show at 24″ x 24″ are exceptions to his usual smaller works…
